Corrie Breaking Barriers

I've been a Corrie fan probably since the womb, as my mum tells it I used to kick her belly when she was pregnant with me when the ladies were fighting fit on screen.

However what happens when Shayne Ward and Jack P Shepherd who normally get our hearts a flutter are given a meaty storyline that will both shock , and inform the public all in one go they act their asses off.

Jack P Shepherd's portrayl of David Platt being the victim of male rape at the hands of Josh , both disturbed me, and kept my attention and has been the subject of discontent among Corrie fans,

But what people need to recognize is that its a real issue, that men sometimes face. Its not just the women who've been victims of an act like this.

Personally I think Jack has knocked it out of the damn ball park and I love him and the show raising awareness of this magnitude.

We've also heard that  Aidan Connor  played by  Shayne Ward will kill himself next week and its to be Shayne's exit storyline.

I applaud the shows for raising awareness and making fans see there are signs when things like this happen, people act out of character, and they generally become a worry for those they love.

Being over generous and sometimes pushing people away as well are a couple of signs that prove something isn't right with those you love.

When I watched those scenes of Aidan being discovered it broke my heart. I felt for  Johnny being the one who found him. That is not a discovery any family member wants to make.

But while I think it was heart breaking it made me aware that its the aftermath of such a situation that affects the family members for a long , long time.

Some find it difficult to face it and suffer in silence much like the dear one who took their own lives.

Talking about it is a difficult path for most people to be on when they do contemplate suicide, some feel they can't discuss this kind of thing with their families and don't reach out and the grim reality is sometimes the family's don't read the signs.

Corrie was brilliant with this storyline and for me it helped a little especially when I myself have had loved ones decide to do away with themselves , who left that burning question in my head why?

We can't answer that unfortunately , but what we can do is listen if they seem out of sorts and maybe reach some semblance of understanding and peace if the fall out is them taking their own lives.

In the long run people should never blame themselves, for not knowing, or blame the person who took that route, Something within them just snapped and they couldn't  face things. Some would say its the cowards way out.

But until you walk a mile in their shoes, and begin to understand that depression can't be fixed with a hug then you just don't get it.

The Slaters the ole Baby Switcheroo

Unpredictable , Crazy, fishwives , Slutty chicks with loose morals with a fighting Spirit , you bet your ass those are the words that jump into my brain when I watch Kat, Zoe, Bev and Hayley scenes.

People can bitch and moan all they want about their unruly behavior but for people like me who adore them , there ain't nothing wrong with those Slater chicks.

Since EastEnders introduced Hayley and Bev Slater something just didn't seem right with the whole family dynamic. If you look at the pics of Kat and Zoe and Hayley and Bev, I believe that Viv Slater Kat's mother switched the girls without their mothers knowing what was going on under their noses.

Looking back I never felt that Zoe was anything like Kat, not in looks and certainly not in the way they presented themselves out in public. Kat was always an embarrassment to Zoe It seemed at times she wished that she wasn't her mother at all .

I believe deep down Zoe had the better deal that what Hayley did and she doesn't seem to grasp the fact that her mother has never fully healed from what Harry did to her. Maybe if Zoe had explored this with Kat they would have healed together and grown closer rather than further apart.

Bev on the other hand was drunk most of the time and ignored Hayley making her fend for herself and that to me ain't right not at all.  When a kid is neglected or made to feel she's nothing, by the one person whose supposed to love her there had to be some huge damn secret that Bev wouldn't want to come out. I think she hated  Kat because of what Viv had forced her parents to do.

Bev throws it in Kat's face about her failings of a mother to cover her own inadequacies, and personally all you have to do is look at Kat and Hayley side by side and you see they look alike.

Kat and Hayley are also like ticking time bombs when things don't go their way.  Kat feels protective of Hayley and I believe deep down she may know what we all suspect that Hayley not Zoe is Kat's biological daughter who should have benefited from having Kat as her mom.

Hayley has so many of Kat's mannerisms and has had the same experiences with a mother who just couldn't care less about her or her grandchild that they would give them away without a single thought of how their daughter would feel about the whole damn thing and to me that's just plain wrong and disgusting on so many levels .

Yeah I can hear the skeptics keep dreaming sunshine. But I know what I suspect could actually happen. Its ridiculous for people not to even think the same way because of all we have seen, and heard. Kat's and Hayley's interactions with each other are that of long lost mothers and daughters.

Long lost daughters tend to have a disdain for their mothers, lol and the mothers are the ones who have the same misgivings about their daughters as well.  It happened on GH more than once , so I can see EastEnders going there .

I was really impressed how Kat came to Hayley's rescue , the way she confronted Bev any woman who cares about anothers well being would do the same thing. I know I would in her shoes. What Hayley needs is someone to care about her and teach her how to be a good mum, not someone who'd sell a child for money. Clearly Bev is a scumbag with no maternal instinct whatsoever.

I can smell this storyline coming from a mile off the alarm bells just go off every time Kat speaks to  Hayley or about her . I feel like the writers should be going there and that secret should come out once Kat finds out that Alfie is the father of Hayley's baby.

Other soaps have had mothers and daughters share fellas why would The Slater clan be any different? Now would be a good time to bring  Zoe back for this storyline and sort this shit out once and for all . Cause I just can't shake it. Please Soap Gods let this happen Pronto I want to see it happen.

Casualty - Under pressure

BBC One's Casualty is a lot of things , exciting, action packed, full of drama and has been apart of my viewing pleasure since  2008.

What drew me in was the pressure cooker scenes that were shown of the Casualty department and of the paramedics that inhabit the Holby City Hospital.

The patients who come into the Casualty department are colourful characters at best, but its the staff that holds my attention.

Clinical Lead  Ethan Hardy is an ambitiously smart young guy, but he's not a frigging push over, you mess up in his department you are told to get out of his sight. This is no joke, you can't be in Casualty department and make fatal errors and get away with it.

Nope best case scenario is to check the patients wounds even though they may say that they aren't bothering them.

My goodness I love Charlie whose the head nurse and of course Dr Dylan Keough whose excentric and funny with a dry sense of humor you don't know sometimes whether to groan or laugh at what he says.

Then you have Jacob Masters as a nurse, Elle another of the doctors whose brilliant as hell running this place you just don't know where to turn lol.

And if you're one of the beloved Nurses like Robyn Thomas , and you're going through a crisis her friends and colleagues are the best support system she could ever want or need.

We found this out recently when Robyn's husband died of Cancer on their wedding day.

Dr Bea Kinsella after being told off by Dr Hardy went out to drink and passed out hurting herself in an alley.

This poor lass , got a dressing down she deserved but the stupid girl under stress turned to drink, Ethan did apologize to her and she went back to work, however, making one bad decision can cause a patient to lost their life.

Ethan does know about that since a patient he had died and then the man's son who murdered Ethan's brother fell to his death and Ethan did not save him.

If anyone should show compassion and understanding it should be Ethan, and that is why he decided to step down as clinical lead.

He realized he's not cut out for it and I love him for it/ You have to accept failure sometimes in order for you to regain the respect back that you once had.

After all you meet the same people going up the ladder as you do when you are on the way down.

An Area of Contention : Where Fans need to draw the line

In all my years of being a soap fan , or a fan of anyone for that matter, I really feel its disheartening when fans think its their god given right to  post pictures of  celebrities , and think " Oh I think it's okay to discuss their personal Issues"

In one sentence  I can sum it up " Hell No its not!"

Its one thing for  Soap stars to be under the microscope , be in the public eye but given the state of affairs that have gone on recently in soap communities I think this is an area of contention and where fans should really draw the line.

Corrie Star Kym Marsh knows only too well about what social media and the internet can do to cause undue stress to people. When someone stole her pics along with her daughters and a woman catfished some poor bloke who believed he was going on a date with Kym Marsh herself.

Watch the video below to hear Kym tell her story herself

And its not just Kym who's fallen victim to people being shady ,  General Hospital Actors and Actressses have been bullied online, had death threats thrown at them and some even gossiped about Kelly Monaco's love life .

Matt Cohen who plays  Griffin Monroe was told he should be fired from his job , and some other castmembers have been subjected to online bullies who don't know how to separate reality from fantasy.

At some point shouldn't fans take a step back and think " Maybe I shouldn't be posting their personal photos in fan groups"

Or Maybe I shouldn't be abusive to them and treat them like shit, they are after all regular people who act their asses off for a living.

After hearing Kym's story I believe that fans should post responsibly because they could have a law suit on their hands. That's what happened to Kym's identity thief.

Even more recently Jack P Shepherd's picture of him with his new squeeze was posted in a soap group , and the foolish woman who posted it asked what people thought of him splitting up with the mother of his child.

I totally get people wanting to discuss  the show , and posting magazine covers which is absolutely fine. But when you start discussing their break ups with other people and they're happy with their new love drop it about their old relationship. There is a reason they aren't with the other person anymore and its not for us to discuss it period.

I find that highly inappropriate and wrong on so many levels, it shows disrespect to him  and to his new lady love. Come to that when you're in a soap group you discuss the red carpet events, the shows  and the awards they've won not their break ups.

Nor should fans post pictures of the stars children unless its at events they've participated in with their parents. I saw a woman post school photos of an actresses kids in a soap group and that is just not right.

What they do in their private lives, who they see is definitely none of our business.  You have to stop and think should I really post this , cause they could see it and get pissed off.

Tabloids are disgusting and fans are easily led and sucked in to join the bandwagon, to gossip, maligne,  and disrespect those that are just doing their job.

To those fans I say show some damn respect,  if you were in their shoes would you want people to discuss you private personal business? I think not.

In Loving Memory of Lucy Beale

In the soap world , you get alot of high drama, you get a lot of action and romance , but the one thing that I and so many other fans detest and do not look forward to is the death of a legacy characters beloved off spring.

On EastEnders on Good Friday  April 19th 2014 an event like this took place. Ian Beale lost his only daughter Lucy tragically when she was murdered by her 11 year old brother.

Lucy had been off the rails for quite some time snorting coke, to block out every single  thoughtless comment her father Ian said to her.

The poor lass was beside herself, she didn't want to be  seen as " The Golden Child" the one who he depended on for everything. But that's just the way it happened.

Lets wind the clock back to  2012 Ian Beale had a break down , and he wound up living in the streets for two months, Lucy was forced to look after the businesses on her own, look after her little brother and still attend school herself.

The lass was strong enough to try and do it on her own, but when it was clear she was struggling, and her friends and neighbors discovered Ian had walked away from his kids they were concerned and worried for the kids as well as him.

Alfie Moon ( Played by Shane Richie)  and Max and Tanya Branning ( Jake Wood and  Jo Joyner) went off on a search for their missing friend and they found him .

Ian was deshelved , and scared , and they decided to take him home. But as they say the course of true love never does run smooth.

Lucy couldn't face seeing her dad like that , nor did she want anything to do with him, eventually they did repair their relationship, but then it came out she was doing cocaine, and he became angry with her and they had a shouting match the very night she died.

Which lead to 11 year old Bobby to get out of bed take his sisters jewelry box and smash her in the head with it , instantly killing her.

Their step mum Jane came across the scene and was upset when she saw her beloved step daughter dead, yes I say that but its a bit tongue in cheek really. Jane and Lucy had their troubles but they patched them up.

Jane took Lucy's dead body to  Walford Common instead of going to the police , and we wound up seeing the whole investigation with the suspects being lined up one by one.

No one knew it was Bobby until the 30th Anniversary episode, but even still Max Branning and even Ben Mitchell were in the frame for this and they did nothing to deserve it.

Eventually Phil and Sharon Mitchell found out and they were pissed that the truth was being covered but but they helped Ian and Jane cover up the truth none the less until one dad Bobby decided it was best he told the truth.

He wound up going to prison for her death , but he won't likely be seen in Walford again.

Here is a video we have done to showcase the events that lead up to her death In April 2014.

Slating a former Soap Star ..... Its Tacky in my books

The life of a soap star is not all glitz and glamour , in fact what happens when a soap star becomes the subject of unwanted gossip lies and innuedo's and front page news . I believe that beyond red carpet events we should not be privy to their personal inner turmoils and personal demons in their lives.
Well that's what happened to Danniella Westbrook as of late and let me tell you I'm not happy about it. I am in no way connected to her, but I have been an EastEnders fan for many years.

Its fair to say that whatever celebrities do behind closed doors or whatever the authorities want with them is not  any of the public's damn business. We should not feed into the crap the media is spewing daily its not fair , or right and it makes me sick to think people are so bloody nasty.
.
I won't make any apologies for being so effing blunt , but I think its  about time that the media left former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook alone she deserves to have some privacy.

In my opinion fans and the media need to grow up and stop focusing on other people's
( especially famous people's ) fall from grace. Its not for us to say or act like hungry buzzards going after their prey. Cause that's what you're doing making comments about her in the first place. Social media can be fun but when fans bash someone they don't know its just hateful.

Its down right disgusting how people think its a riot and make disparaging remarks about someone they don't even know and only know about through the magic of television.

She is someon's mother, daughter ,  and sister and she is also someone who has been through enough emotional upheavel and yet they still carry it on like she deserves to be slated for all the problems she's had over the years . Yes people do have personal struggles and its their journey to be on and not ours to pick apart and make our jabs at , its clearly bullyish behaviour

Yes its true she's fallen on hard times  , has been through the wringer more than once,  but its not for us to pass judgment or make fun of her and her current situation by discussing it online.

Instead of taking pot shots at her , talking about her disrespectfully and about the previous reconstruction surgery she had to have due to her cocaine use, why don't people just take a step back and think to themselves " Is it even appropriate to crack jokes about her period?

I think frigging not , as an EastEnders fans , fan of Danniella's and a fellow compassionate human being I think everyone should back off.

People need to stop being Judge , jury  and executioner and concentrate on their  own personal drama's that are going on in their lives.

Do yourselves , Danniella and everyone else a favor concentrate on your own personal drama and quit poking your noses into other people's business.

Just because the media reports it doesn't mean we have to read it and spread the gossip and ridicule her even further.

Be respectful, be compassionate, be understanding and most of all be  someone whose strong enough to say I won't be a party to the nasty, negativity of aholes who think they're justified in tearing someone else down.

Get some class people , and remember , one day god forbid you might be in the same situation, and if you do which would be unfortunate would you want people to do the same thing to you that you're doing to Miss Westbrook I think not.
